India, Aug. 19 -- Back-to-back storms have caused historic flooding across Indiana and parts of the Ohio Valley, damaging roads, homes and critical infrastructure while prompting evacuations and emergency response efforts.
Heavy Rain Causes Widespread Damage
The National Weather Service reported flash flooding across Indiana on August 12, with rainfall reaching 5 to 10 inches in parts of the state. New Castle received nearly 13 inches. Continued storms on August 16 led authorities to recommend evacuations for hundreds of residents in Perry, Hamilton and Marion counties.
