India, Sept. 17 -- A war-damaged building collapsed overnight in Gaza, killing 20 people and leaving dozens trapped beneath the rubble, according to Oxfam, which said rescue efforts were being hindered by the lack of heavy machinery and emergency equipment.
Dozens Trapped Under Rubble
Oxfam said rescuers were attempting to reach people buried beneath the collapsed structure with their hands because the equipment required for rescue operations was unavailable. The organisation said children were among those trapped.
Wassem Mushtaha, Oxfam's Response Lead in Gaza, said the latest deaths brought the number of Palestinian deaths in Gaza since the 10 October declaration last year to 1,381, according to the organisation.
