India, Aug. 12 -- For displaced families at the Ateera site in Yemen's Lahj Governorate, rain once brought flooded shelters, damaged belongings and sleepless nights. New support funded by the European Union is helping residents withstand the rainy season with stronger protection from harsh weather.
Fragile Shelters Left Families Vulnerable
Ateera, a displacement site in Tuban District housing 714 people, is exposed to seasonal winds and heavy rain. Residents previously relied on thin tarpaulins that frequently tore, allowing rainwater and sand to enter their shelters.
