India, Aug. 26 -- The European Court of Human Rights has ordered Turkiye to release jailed human rights defender Osman Kavala and quash his conviction, ruling that his continued detention and trial violated multiple fundamental rights.
Court finds politically motivated prosecution
The Grand Chamber of the European Court of Human Rights ruled that Kavala's continued detention was unlawful and found violations of his rights to a fair trial, freedom of expression and freedom of association.
