India, Oct. 6 -- The Ebola outbreak in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo is intensifying in North Kivu, where the province now accounts for nearly 40 percent of newly confirmed cases nationwide and health teams are struggling to provide specialised care.
Multiple hotspots emerge
The outbreak has escalated sharply since early September, with new transmission hotspots appearing across northern North Kivu. While confirmed cases have recently declined slightly in Butembo, infections are increasing in neighbouring Beni, highlighting how quickly transmission patterns are shifting.
