India, Sept. 21 -- The Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo is shifting geographically rather than fading, with new cases emerging in areas less prepared to respond to the disease, Doctors Without Borders/Medecins Sans Frontieres (MSF) said on September 18.
Spread Moves Beyond Ituri
Transmission has slowed in parts of Ituri province, the original epicentre, but the national number of new cases has not declined, according to MSF. South Ubangi has now become the seventh affected province, while North Kivu is reporting nearly half of all newly confirmed cases.
