India, Aug. 10 -- The Danish Refugee Council (DRC) has urged European authorities to adopt a measured, evidence-based response after more than 140 migrants died while attempting to reach Ceuta, warning that deterrence-focused policies could further expose vulnerable people to dangerous migration routes.
DRC Raises Alarm Over Deaths
The humanitarian organisation expressed deep sadness over the deaths and concern about the political discourse that followed the incident. It called on the European Union, its member states and relevant international organisations to ensure that their response complies with European and international legal obligations.
