India, Sept. 11 -- A powerful 7.4-magnitude earthquake struck western Colombia on August 10, leaving communities dealing with deaths, injuries, damaged buildings and uncertainty over the full scale of the destruction. CARE said the fear of aftershocks has added to the distress of people coping with the immediate aftermath.
Epicentre in Choco
The earthquake's epicentre was near San Jose del Palmar in the western department of Choco. Strong shaking was felt across much of Colombia, reaching as far as Bogota.
