India, Aug. 12 -- A powerful 7.4-magnitude earthquake struck western Colombia on Monday, killing more than 100 people and leaving communities grappling with destroyed homes, damaged infrastructure and disrupted essential services. Save the Children warned that children are particularly vulnerable as rescue and relief efforts continue.
Widespread Destruction
The earthquake struck as families were at home or beginning their day, with tremors felt as far away as Venezuela. Preliminary assessments indicate that homes and other buildings have been damaged or destroyed, while the full scale of the devastation remains under review.
