India, Aug. 3 -- Children in Sudan's conflict-hit city of El Obeid are facing a worsening cholera outbreak as damaged water systems, overcrowded shelters and restricted humanitarian access heighten the risk of disease and death, Plan International has warned.
Conflict Fuels Public Health Emergency
Plan International said the spread of cholera is compounding an already severe humanitarian crisis in El Obeid, the capital of North Kordofan. Ongoing fighting has damaged essential infrastructure, disrupted clean water supplies and forced thousands of families into overcrowded displacement sites where sanitation remains poor. Children are among the most vulnerable as healthcare services struggle to cope with rising demand.
