India, Sept. 18 -- Amnesty International has called on the US State Department to reverse its decision to deny visas to a high-level Palestinian delegation ahead of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, including Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas.
Visa Restrictions Extended
The US State Department announced on September 16 that it would extend visa restrictions on members of the Palestine Liberation Organization and Palestinian Authority officials. The department said the measures followed what it described as failures to meet previous commitments and cited Palestinian actions at international institutions, including the International Criminal Court and International Court of Justice.
