India, Sept. 16 -- Amnesty International has called on European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen to use her 16 September State of the European Union address to advance measures targeting trade with Israeli settlements, saying earlier commitments have not been followed through.
Previous EU proposals
In her 2025 address, von der Leyen proposed suspending the trade component of the EU-Israel Association Agreement, imposing sanctions on Israeli ministers and settlers, and suspending some EU funding for Israeli projects. Amnesty said almost none of those measures had been adopted a year later.
The organisation said Germany and Italy obstructed efforts to suspend the agreement, while Hungary and Czechia vetoed proposed sanctions again...
