India, Sept. 9 -- Amnesty International has accused Meta of failing to adequately protect Hungary's LGBTI community from harmful content on Facebook, saying weak enforcement of the platform's own policies has allowed abusive rhetoric to remain visible.
Harmful Content Remained Online
A new Amnesty briefing found that Facebook hosted anti-LGBTI posts involving threats of violence, dehumanising language and claims portraying LGBTI people as dangers to children, families and society. Some material remained accessible for extended periods after users reported it, with certain posts still available when researchers checked them in March 2026.
