India, Oct. 22 -- Amnesty International said Mada Masr editor-in-chief Lina Atallah has been summoned to appear before Egypt’s Supreme State Security Prosecution today for investigation in a new criminal case against her, and called on Egyptian authorities to end what it described as judicial harassment.

Amnesty International’s Senior Director for Regional Impact, Yasmine Ahmed, said it was “utterly disgraceful” that Egyptian authorities were “once again targeting” Atallah over reporting by Mada Masr.
Ahmed said this was the sixth case against Mada Masr and its journalists in six years, and said Atallah “should never have been targeted with these successive investigations.”
