India, Oct. 21 -- Amnesty International’s Regional Director for the Middle East and North Africa, Heba Morayef, on Oct. 21 issued a statement responding to what Amnesty International described as “state-driven Israeli settler violence” in the occupied West Bank over the weekend, including incidents that Amnesty International said targeted Palestinian communities, a delegation of European diplomats and a Washington Post photojournalist.

Morayef said Israel’s “apartheid system” was turning the olive harvest into “a season of horror” for Palestinian families, citing attacks by settlers on farmers that she said damaged, destroyed and stole crops, alongside Israeli military restrictions on access to groves.
