India, Oct. 8 -- More than 347 million children across nearly 100 countries and territories are expected to face unusually wet or dry conditions from October to December 2026 as a strong El Nino event raises the risk of floods, droughts and disruptions to essential services, UNICEF said.
Asia-Pacific faces largest exposure
Asia and the Pacific account for the largest share, with about 190 million children expected to experience unusual precipitation linked to El Nino. East and Southern Africa and Latin America and the Caribbean each account for about 41 million children, followed by Europe and Central Asia with 22 million.
