US Judge Blocks Trump Visa Limits for Students, Journalists
New Delhi, Sept. 15 -- Foreign students and journalists can study or work in the US for as long as they want without applying for extensions after a federal judge on Monday blocked a new Trump administration policy.
The judge postponed implementation of the new rule that would limit how long foreign students and journalists can remain in the US. The order came one day before the new visa policy was scheduled to take effect.
Under the proposed new rules, foreign students can stay in the US for a maximum of four years, after which they would have to apply for an extension. Presently, they are allowed to remain for the duration of their studies.
For foreign journalists, the new policy proposes stays of just 240 days, or around eight month...
