New Delhi, March 7 -- Donald Trump said major US defence companies have agreed to quadruple production of what he described as "exquisite class" weaponry following a meeting at the White House.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump said expansion of production facilities had already begun three months ago and that new manufacturing plants were already under construction.

He added that the United States wants to reach "the highest levels of quantity" in weapons production as quickly as possible.

The announcement comes amid the ongoing conflict with Iran. Trump also claimed in the same post that the US has a "virtually unlimited supply" of certain munitions, which he said are currently being used in operations against Iran.
