New Delhi, Jan. 14 -- Severe winter weather swept across Central Europe this week, disrupting daily life and forcing several airports to shut down.

Vienna International Airport closed after thick ice repeatedly formed on runways, leading to flight diversions to other cities.

Budapest airport faced temporary closure due to black ice, while Prague and Bratislava reported delays and cancellations as icy conditions spread across the region.

In Hungary, Lake Balaton froze almost entirely for the first time in a decade. Authorities warned that the ice was unstable and dangerous, but residents still gathered to witness the rare spectacle.
