New Delhi, May 2 -- The Election Commission of India has ordered a re-poll at 15 polling stations in West Bengal. This includes 11 booths in the Mograhat Paschim assembly constituency and 4 booths in Diamond Harbour, both located in South 24 Parganas district.
The re-poll is currently underway from 7 am today. Voting at these booths had originally taken place on April 29 during the second phase of the assembly elections.
However, the Election Commission later declared the polling at these locations void. The decision was taken under Section 58(2) of the Representation of the People Act, 1951. According to officials, the order was based on reports submitted by Returning Officers and Election Observers.
