New Delhi, Aug. 8 -- Raksha Bandhan will be celebrated on Saturday across the world with traditional fervour. The festival holds deep cultural and emotional significance, symbolising the enduring bond of love, affection, and trust between brothers and sisters.
On this day, sisters tie a Rakhi-a sacred thread-on their brothers' wrists and pray for their health, happiness, and long life. In return, brothers pledge to protect their sisters throughout their lives, even at great personal cost.
According to the Hindu calendar, Raksha Bandhan falls on the full-moon day (Purnima) of the month of Shravana. With the celebration of this festival, the month of Shravan concludes and the month of Bhadrapada begins.
