New Delhi, Jan. 22 -- India and the European Union have agreed to sign a new Security and Defence Partnership, EU Foreign Policy Chief Kaja Kallas announced ahead of the 60th EU-India Summit in New Delhi on Tuesday, January 27.

Kaja Kallas said Europe is ready to advance a strong new agenda with India, including expanded cooperation in maritime security, counterterrorism, cyber-defence, and the signing of an India-EU Free Trade Agreement.

She emphasized that the two major democracies must work more closely in the face of an unprecedented global order, noting that India and the EU share renewed political momentum and a clear sense of purpose.
