New Delhi, Oct. 25 -- The Election Commission of India issued an advisory to all political parties regarding the use of artificial intelligence-generated and synthetic content during elections.

The ECI warned that the misuse of AI-altered material, such as deepfakes of political leaders, poses a threat to the fairness and integrity of polls. Political parties have been directed to comply with the IT Rules, 2021, and ensure that all AI-generated images, audio, or videos carry clear disclosure labels. They are also required to report fake or unlawful content to social media platforms and, if unresolved, to the Grievance Appellate Committee.
