New Delhi, Aug. 12 -- India's net direct tax collection has crossed Rs.8.11 lakh crore in the current financial year, registering a growth of 23.09% compared to Rs.6.59 lakh crore during the same period last year.

According to Income Tax Department data, gross direct tax collection stood at Rs.9.55 lakh crore as of August 10, 2026, marking a 19.75% increase from Rs.7.97 lakh crore recorded a year ago. The strong growth in direct tax revenue reflects a positive trend in government finances during FY 2026-27.
