New Delhi, Aug. 5 -- In the United States, more than 3,200 Boeing fighter jet workers in the St. Louis and Illinois areas went on strike Monday after rejecting a second contract offer.

Boeing's proposed four-year contract included a 20% general wage hike, a $5,000 ratification bonus, enhanced vacation, sick leave, and periodic raises - amounting to an average 40% pay increase.

Despite the offer, union members voted to strike, citing unresolved concerns.

Boeing Defense said it is prepared for the work stoppage and will implement a contingency plan using non-labor personnel to maintain operations.
