New Delhi, April 30 -- Polling for Phase-II of the General Elections to the Legislative Assembly of West Bengal began on April 29 at 7:00 AM, with voter turnout reaching 91.66% by 7:45 PM, according to the Election Commission of India.

In Phase-I, the poll participation was 93.19%, taking the combined turnout across the two phases to 92.47%, the highest ever recorded in the state since Independence, as per ECI data.

The turnout surpasses the previous record of 84.72% registered during the 2011 Assembly elections.

Gender-wise turnout in Phase-II stood at 91.07% for male voters, 92.28% for female voters and 91.28% for third gender voters,https://x.com/CEOWestBengal/status/2049418963197771902/photo/2
