New Delhi, March 5 -- Union Minister for Ports, Shipping and Waterways Sarbananda Sonowal chaired a high-level review meeting to assess the evolving maritime security situation in the Persian Gulf and its implications for Indian seafarers and India-flagged vessels operating in the region. The meeting reviewed precautionary measures being taken to safeguard Indian maritime assets and personnel amid rising security concerns.
During the meeting, the Director General of Shipping briefed the minister on the prevailing security environment and the status of Indian-flagged ships and Indian seafarers currently operating in the region.
