New Delhi, June 12 -- In the presence of Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah, a Tripartite Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed in New Delhi between the Government of India, the Government of Assam and the Government of Nagaland to facilitate mineral oil operations in the Assam-Nagaland boundary areas. Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Singh Puri, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio were also present.

Describing the agreement as a historic milestone, Amit Shah said the MoU would open new opportunities for oil and natural gas exploration as well as mineral mining, while removing a major obstacle in the development of the North-East. He said both Assa...
