New Delhi, March 12 -- Taranjit Singh Sandhu took oath as the new Lieutenant Governor of Delhi at a ceremony held at Raj Niwas. The oath of office and secrecy was administered by Devendra Kumar Upadhyaya in the presence of Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, members of the Delhi cabinet and senior officials. He succeeds Vinai Kumar Saxena.
Born on January 23, 1963, Sandhu studied at The Lawrence School, Sanawar and later completed his graduation in History from St. Stephen's College, University of Delhi. He went on to pursue a master's degree in International Relations from Jawaharlal Nehru University before joining the Indian Foreign Service in 1988.
