Sonam Wangchuk Ends 26-Day Fast After Government Assurances (Delhi)
New Delhi, July 25 -- Sonam Wangchuk on Thursday ended his 26-day hunger strike following assurances from the Centre and Members of Parliament across political parties that issues related to accountability in the examination system would be discussed in Parliament.
Wangchuk said he broke his fast in the presence of Union Ministers J.P. Nadda and Jitendra Singh, along with senior leaders of the Apex Body of Leh Ladakh, after prolonged negotiations and in view of the possibility of violence. He said he would soon release a detailed video explaining the conditions under which the fast was called off and urged people to remain vigilant and maintain peace.
