New Delhi, May 29 -- Siddaramaiah on May 28 submitted his resignation from the post of Karnataka Chief Minister, handing over his resignation letter to the Governor's Special Secretary at Lok Bhavan in the absence of the Governor. In a detailed public statement, Siddaramaiah described his political journey from a small village background to serving twice as the Chief Minister of Karnataka, calling it possible because of the Constitution drafted by Dr. B. R. Ambedkar.

He said leaders such as Buddha, Basavanna, Dr. Ambedkar and Mahatma Gandhi had guided his political and social philosophy throughout his 48 years in public life. Siddaramaiah stated that he had always tried to stand with the poor, oppressed and neglected sections of society ...
