PM Modi addresses the Parliament of Indonesia
New Delhi, July 8 -- Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday became the first Indian Prime Minister to address the Parliament of Indonesia, calling for a new era in India-Indonesia ties through the 'Ganga-Mahakam Vision', a five-pillar framework aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation in culture, development, security, maritime affairs and the Global South.
Beginning his address by thanking Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto and Parliament Speaker Puan Maharani, Modi said he was honoured to represent 1.4 billion Indians and described India as the "Mother of Democracy."
