New Delhi, Sept. 23 -- The Council approved the conversion of commercial water connections in the Dhobi Ghat area to the domestic category. It also cleared the construction of a new water-supply control room, replacement of old pipelines, rehabilitation and desilting of the old sewer network, and procurement of advanced sewer-cleaning machines equipped with water-recycling technology.

Other decisions included improving street lighting to eliminate dark spots, introducing smart electricity meters and providing a 50 per cent discount on parking charges for electric vehicles. A one-time amnesty scheme offering relief from late-payment surcharges to domestic and Dhobi Ghat water consumers was also approved.
