New Delhi, May 12 -- Delhi minister Parvesh Sahib Singh chaired a review meeting at the Delhi Secretariat along with Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa to assess the functioning of Common Effluent Treatment Plants (CETPs) and their role in the Yamuna cleaning initiative.

Singh said industrial waste remained one of the major causes of pollution in the Yamuna and added that CETPs were critical in stopping untreated waste before it reached the river.

The ministers discussed measures to strengthen the treatment systems, improve monitoring mechanisms and ensure that CETPs functioned effectively in accordance with environmental standards.
