NHAI to Transform 1033 National Highway Helpline with New Technology
New Delhi, Sept. 15 -- The upgraded system will identify callers' locations, understand calls in different Indian languages and dispatch appropriate assistance more quickly. Human operators will continue to play an important role, particularly during emergencies requiring judgement and decision-making.
Launched in 2018, the 1033 helpline operates round the clock and assists travellers during medical emergencies and vehicle breakdowns. It also facilitates ambulances, cranes and patrol vehicles and handles toll plaza, FASTag and other highway-related issues.
The helpline covers more than 1.46 lakh kilometres of National Highways and receives around 15,000 calls daily. It currently provides assistance in multiple languages.
