New Delhi, Aug. 28 -- The New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) has flagged off three truckloads of organic compost for use by its Horticulture Department across green areas under its jurisdiction as part of its sustainable waste management initiative.

At a programme held at Palika Kendra, NDMC Chairman M.K. Dwivedi distributed compost bags to NDMC employees and flagged off the three trucks carrying organic compost.

The initiative is aimed at promoting the use of organic compost in place of inorganic and chemical inputs in NDMC's green areas. According to the civic body, the use of organic compost will help enrich the soil naturally while improving the health and sustainability of green spaces.
