Mission 70 Lakh Tree Plantation Campaign Launched in Delhi; Amit Shah Flags Off 300 Electric Buses
New Delhi, July 8 -- Union Home Minister Amit Shah launched the Mission 70 Lakh Tree Plantation campaign in Delhi, aimed at expanding the capital's green cover and restoring the Delhi Ridge with native tree species. He also inaugurated 300 new electric buses, three electric bus depots, and an automated vehicle testing station, besides laying the e-foundation stone for a high-security prison in Narela.
Speaking on the occasion, Shah said the initiative would transform the Delhi Ridge into the city's "green lungs" by removing invasive and harmful tree species and replacing them with indigenous varieties such as Peepal, Banyan, Neem, and Jamun.
