New Delhi, March 10 -- A jury was seated Monday in the U.S. federal trial of four men charged in the 2021 assassination of Haitian President Jovenel Moise.
A panel of 12 jurors and four alternates was sworn in just before 7 p.m., about nine a hours after jury section began. The jury is made up of eight women and four men. Four of the women are Black. The alternates include three men and one woman, and one of the men is Black.
Arcangel Pretel Ortiz, Antonio Intriago, Walter Veintemilla and James Solages are charged with conspiring in South Florida to kidnap or kill Haiti's former leader, plus related charges. They face possible life sentences. They all have pleaded not guilty.
