New Delhi, Sept. 16 -- The country's total imports increased by 18.75 per cent to $92.09 billion during the month from $77.55 billion in August 2025. Despite the rise in imports, the overall trade deficit narrowed to $9.41 billion from $11.62 billion a year earlier.

India's cumulative merchandise and services exports during April-August 2026-27 were estimated at $399.27 billion, registering growth of 15.55 per cent over $345.55 billion recorded during the corresponding period of 2025-26.

Total imports during the first five months of the current financial year increased by 18.01 per cent to $459.65 billion from $389.49 billion in the year-ago period. The cumulative overall trade deficit consequently widened to $60.38 billion from $43.94 ...
