New Delhi, Sept. 18 -- The Ministry of External Affairs said the government had taken note of the legislation and was monitoring further developments related to it.

Reiterating India's position on energy procurement, the ministry said the country would continue to safeguard its energy security through diversified sourcing and in accordance with evolving market dynamics.

The MEA said the issue had been discussed at high levels with various US interlocutors in recent months. During these discussions, India had clearly conveyed the legislation's potential implications for bilateral relations as well as the wider international energy market.
