New Delhi, June 27 -- India has launched Operation Amistad to provide humanitarian assistance to earthquake-affected Venezuela, with two Indian Air Force C-17 transport aircraft departing on Friday carrying emergency relief supplies and medical support.

External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar said the relief mission includes an Indian Army Field Hospital Unit and more than 35 tonnes of relief material, medicines and medical equipment, including two BHISHM Cubes for emergency medical response.

Jaishankar said the operation reflects India's commitment to supporting the Government and people of Venezuela in their post-earthquake relief and recovery efforts.
