New Delhi, Sept. 9 -- The Election Commission has announced bye-elections to five Assembly constituencies in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and West Bengal and the Nagaon Lok Sabha constituency in Assam, with polling scheduled for October 6 and counting of votes on October 9.

The Assembly constituencies going to polls are Madurantakam (SC) and Dharapuram (SC) in Tamil Nadu, Thattanchavady in Puducherry, and Rejinagar and Nandigram in West Bengal.

The Nagaon Parliamentary Constituency in Assam will also go to polls.

The vacancies arose following the resignations of Maragatham Kumaravel from Madurantakam, P. Sathyabama from Dharapuram, N. Rangasamy from Thattanchavady, Humayun Kabir from Rejinagar, Suvendu Adhikari from Nandigram and Pradyut Bor...
