Delhi Police Clarifies NSA Renewal Unrelated to CJP Protests
New Delhi, July 25 -- Delhi Police on Thursday clarified that the recent renewal of powers under the National Security Act (NSA) for the Commissioner of Police is a routine quarterly administrative process and is not linked to the ongoing CJP protests.
In an official statement, the police said misleading claims circulating on social media incorrectly suggested that the powers were granted specifically to suppress the protests. It clarified that the renewal order was issued on July 7 for the period from July 19 to October 18, before the commencement of the CJP protests.
