Delhi Mandates 100 GSM Green Nets at Construction Sites to Curb Dust Pollution
New Delhi, May 12 -- Delhi Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa announced that the installation of green nets with a minimum thickness of 100 GSM has now been made mandatory at all construction and demolition (C&D) sites across the national capital to curb dust pollution.
Sirsa said thin nets used at many sites often allowed dust particles to spread into the air, but the new thickness standard would significantly help in controlling PM2.5 and PM10 particles. He added that the decision had been taken in accordance with the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) dust-control regulations and the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) related to inspections of C&D sites.
