Delhi Government Signs MoU with MCD and Plastindia Foundation to Set Up Over 250 Collection Centres for Broken Idols and Puja Materials
New Delhi, Oct. 21 -- The idols and puja materials collected at these centres will be recycled to create useful items. The initiative aims to provide residents with an alternative to immersing religious materials in the Yamuna River.
The Delhi government has urged residents to deposit broken idols and puja materials at the designated collection centres instead of immersing them in the Yamuna, emphasising the need to respect religious sentiments while keeping the river clean.
Delhi Mayor Pravesh Wahi and representatives of Plastindia Foundation were present on the occasion.
