New Delhi, May 4 -- A massive fire in the Vivek Vihar area of Delhi's Shahdara district claimed nine lives early, triggering a swift response from emergency services and authorities. According to the Delhi Fire Service, information about the blaze was received in the early hours, following which 14 fire tenders were rushed to the spot. The fire was brought under control by around 6:25 AM.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed grief over the incident, calling the loss of lives "extremely distressing." He conveyed condolences to the bereaved families and prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured.
