New Delhi, May 26 -- Delhi Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa conducted an inspection of Common Effluent Treatment Plants (CETPs) in Okhla along with senior officials and reviewed measures aimed at making the Yamuna pollution-free. He said industrial waste remains one of the major causes behind the pollution of the Yamuna and highlighted that CETPs are critical in preventing contaminated industrial discharge from entering the river.

Sirsa stated that despite repeated promises made by previous governments over the last 25 years regarding the upgradation of CETPs, little work was carried out on the ground.
