New Delhi, May 14 -- Under the leadership of Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, preparations are being intensified across Delhi to tackle waterlogging before the monsoon season.

According to the Delhi Chief Minister's Office, 76 per cent desilting work of the capital's major drains has been completed. Out of the target of removing 29 lakh metric tonnes of silt, more than 22 lakh metric tonnes have already been cleared.

The government said that drain-cleaning work is progressing rapidly through the use of modern machines, continuous monitoring and time-bound action to ensure that Delhi residents do not face waterlogging problems during the upcoming rainy season.
