New Delhi, Sept. 11 -- Chinese President Xi Jinping will visit India on 12 September to attend the 18th BRICS Summit in New Delhi, the foreign ministry announced on Thursday.

This will be Xi's first visit to India in nearly seven years.

Xi last visited India in 2019 for an informal summit with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Mamallapuram near Chennai. The most recent meeting between the two leaders was on 31 August , 2025, on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit in Tianjin, China.

During his visit, Xi is expected to meet Modi on the sidelines of the summit. The meeting is scheduled at 6 PM on Saturday as per some media reports. There has been no official confirmation of the time, though.
