New Delhi, Aug. 24 -- Despite India nearly closing the gender gap in basic bank-account ownership, women continue to lag men significantly in digital financial capability and access to credit, limiting their ability to participate in the country's rapidly expanding platform economy, according to an ILO-NCAER policy brief released on Monday.

The joint policy brief by the International Labour Organization (ILO) and National Council of Applied Economic Research (NCAER) said that digital financial inclusion is a critical enabler of decent work for women in the platform economy, which includes ride-hailing, food and grocery delivery, personal and home services, e-commerce, quick commerce and logistics.
